There are many unique challenges and opportunities for tackling overuse in rural and remote communities. For May’s Choosing Wisely Talks we will be joined by Drs. Sarah Cook and David Pontin, from the Northwest Territories, to discuss the implementation of Choosing Wisely Canada recommendations within the realities of northern and rural Canada. This context includes the heavy reliance on EMR/e-consultation and a transient workforce, lack of capacity and data, high volume of medical travel and patient movement, as well as the importance of cultural competency in preventing unnecessary and inappropriate use of resources.
