In Alberta, 30% of patients presenting to the ED with minor traumatic brain injuries (MTBI) will receive a CT scan before being sent home. Dr. Shawn Dowling and Ms. Heather Hair, from Alberta’s Emergency Strategic Clinical Network (ESCN), informed participants about their infographic-based patient implementation strategy on CT scans for MTBI. The ESCN, Physician Learning Program, and Choosing Wisely Alberta partnered with students from the Mount Royal University Department of Information Design to develop an interactive patient infographic storyboard based on Choosing Wisely Canada recommendations. The final design was evaluated against the International Patient Decision Aid Standards (IPDAS).
