The Joint Centres and ARTIC have released patient advisor video interviews on the importance of informed decision making between patients and physicians.

Choosing Wisely: An Idea Worth Spreading is a North York General (NYGH) project in partnership with the Adopting Research to Improve Care (ARTIC) program. This collaborative effort shares Choosing Wisely experiences and successes across the Joint Centres for Transformative Healthcare Innovation, which includes five community hospitals and six affiliated Family Health Teams in Ontario.

The Joint Centers are working on reducing unnecessary care through a project called Choosing Wisely: An Idea Worth Spreading. This collaborative project is reducing unnecessary care by implementing hospital-relevant Choosing Wisely recommendations across the Joint Centres, and targeted primary care recommendations across the associated family and community medicine clinics in Ontario.

Opening the Dialogue Between Patients and Their Doctors for Better Care

Patient advisors from the Joint Centres have shared their Choosing Wisely experiences through new video interviews. These videos encourage patients to engage in conversations with their physicians to make informed choices related to their care. Through this series, videos will be developed to empower patients to have an open dialogue with their physician and help reduce unnecessary tests and treatments.
