In 2015 data showed that urea, LDH, AST, CK, ferritin, and uric acid were being ordered in high volumes by family physicians in Eastern Health (EH), the largest health authority in Newfoundland and Labrador. Partnering with Quality of Care NL, EH was able to reduce these six tests by 20-70% in just two years by implementing a range of interventions such as revising routine order forms and removing blood urea, LDH and AST as well as feedback through academic detailing for urea, LDH, CK, and ferritin testing.
