Acute renal replacement therapy (RRT) can be life-saving for critically ill patients, yet evidence shows that initiating therapy too early can cause harm and consume resources without improving outcomes. Dialyzing Wisely is a provincial quality-improvement initiative designed to standardize evidence-based timing of acute RRT initiation and enhance the performance of dialysis delivery across Alberta’s intensive care units.
