STARS (Students and Trainees Advocating for Resource Stewardship) is a medical education campaign that supports student-led implementation of grassroots initiatives to advance resource stewardship in the medical school curriculum.

Six cohorts later with over 200 student leaders involved across 17 Canadian medical schools, the campaign has garnered international attention. Choosing Wisely campaigns around the globe have now launched their own STARS campaigns in 8 countries to lead local activities and advance resource stewardship in medical education.

To wrap up the Choosing Wisely Talks series, join us on June 2 at 12 p.m. ET for STARS Homecoming. Our expert panel of faculty, resident, and student leaders will discuss the international spread of STARS, success stories, and the importance of resource stewardship in inspiring the next generation of physicians to choose wisely.

Speakers:

  • Dr. Brian Wong, General Internist, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and Director of the Centre for Quality and Patient Safety (C-QuIPS)
  • Dr. Chris Moriates, Assistant Dean for Health Care Value, Dell Medical School at the University of Austin Texas and Executive Director at Costs of Care
