Choosing Wisely and Childbirth: Addressing the Challenge of Unnecessary C-Sections

7 Oct 2020

12:00pm EST - 1:00pm EST

This month, we’re talking appropriateness in obstetrical care. C-sections are the most common surgery for hospitalized patients. This procedure can be lifesaving, but in many cases, it is happening when not clinically indicated. In October’s Choosing Wisely Talks, we will discuss the complex set of factors behind the overuse of C-sections as well as strategies to reduce them. Join a panel of international experts in a conversation about this important overuse problem in pregnancy and maternal care.

Dr. Neel Shah, Obstetrician and health services researcher at Harvard University and Dr. Leslie Po, Obstetrician at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, lead the conversation on October 7 at 12 p.m. ET.

Listen in, or better yet, bring your own experiences to the conversation every first Wednesday of the month from 12 p.m.–1 p.m. (ET).
