Using a Quality Improvement Approach to Reduce Sedative-Hypnotic Prescribing Among Hospitalized Patients

27 Apr 2022

12:00pm ET - 1:00pm ET

Benzodiazepines and other sedative-hypnotics are not recommended as first-line treatment for insomnia, agitation, and delirium in older adults. Long-term use of these medications can be harmful, and increase the risks of falls, hip fractures, as well as lead to other adverse events.

Join the De/Implement series on April 27 at 12 p.m. ET to discuss a recently published study on using a quality improvement approach to decrease sedative-hypnotics across multiple hospital sites. Dr. Christine Soong, Medical Director of Quality and Safety at Sinai Health, will describe the intervention, share findings, and discuss how to sustain these efforts.
