Sutter Health is a not-for-profit health system in Northern California, headquartered in Sacramento. It includes doctors, hospitals and other health care services in more than 100 Northern California cities and towns. Dr. Michael van Duren, Vice President of Variation Reduction, discussed their experience using data in conversations with physicians, and practice patterns as they relate to the overuse of certain tests, treatments or procedures. Through audit and feedback they were able see a sizable reduction in overuse across a variety of sites and specialties.
