Health Care Providers are People Too: Applying Behavioural Approaches to Target Choosing Wisely Canada Recommendations

15 Jan 2020

12:00pm EST - 1:00pm EST

Getting healthcare systems to uptake Choosing Wisely Canada recommendations may require different people to change what they do; however, we often jump to solutions before we understand who really needs to do what, differently. Without knowing this, changing behaviour can be difficult.

This webinar will provide an overview of how contemporary behavioural theories and frameworks can aid with the development of Choosing Wisely Canada de-implementation initiatives. Join us on Wednesday, January 15 at 12:00 p.m. (ET) for this webinar presented by Dr. Andrea Patey, a Senior Research Associate at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and Assistant Professor (adjunct) in the Faculty of Medicine, Queen’s University.

Dr. Patey will focus on the importance of clarifying who needs to do what, differently, and at which level, to promote de-implementation. Participants will be introduced to approaches for describing de-implementation in behavioural terms and the key role of behaviour change. She will discuss the role of theoretical models and frameworks and provide an overview of key models used in Implementation Science.
