Knowledge to Action: Why we Need Quality Improvement in the Emergency Department

8 Jan 2020

12:00pm EST - 1:00pm EST

Emergency Departments (EDs) are often the highest volume area of a hospital, in part due to their provision of care for patients 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. With increasingly large patient volumes and growing pressure to manage patients as efficiently as possible, comes the potential for overuse of tests and treatments. Join emergency physicians Drs. Lucas Chartier and Shawn Dowling on Wednesday, January 8 at 12 p.m. (ET), as they discuss the synergy of quality improvement and Choosing Wisely in the ED, including compelling cases and examples. The goals of the webinar are to have attendees reflect on their work and how they can incorporate these ideas locally.

The learning objectives for this webinar are to:

1. Discuss why Quality Improvement initiatives are needed in Emergency Departments (EDs)
2. Explain the need for resource stewardship in EDs
3. Provide examples of how EDs have supported Quality Improvement and Choosing Wisely recommendations.
