Celebrate a decade of Choosing Wisely Canada by presenting at our annual National Meeting on April 15 & 16, 2024 in Montreal, Quebec.

Celebrate a decade of Choosing Wisely Canada at our National Meeting on April 15 & 16, 2024 in Montreal, Quebec! Be a part of the anniversary celebration by submitting your Choosing Wisely initiatives and innovative approaches to be considered for concurrent breakout sessions.

How to showcase your Choosing Wisely efforts:

  1. Submit an abstract:
    • Submit an abstract on Choosing Wisely initiatives and innovative approaches based on the following themes:
      • Quality Improvement/Implementation (e.g., interventions, health policy, interprofessional collaboration, deprescribing)
      • Measurement and Evaluation (e.g., administrative data, trends in low-value care, impact of intervention on low-value care)
      • Medical Education
      • Patient Engagement
      • Environmental sustainability (reducing low-value care can avoid harm to patients and the planet)
      • Appropriate Prescribing
      • Abstracts will be accepted in English and French. Relevant abstracts will be published in a digital abstract book and considered for in-person presentations in concurrent breakout sessions.
  1. Tell Us Your Success Story:
    • Have a success story from the past ten years? Share your challenges, opportunities, impact, and lessons learned of past or current Choosing Wisely efforts. Success stories will be featured in breakout sessions grouped by relevant themes.
  1. Pitch a Workshop/Presentation
    • Have a topic that needs more time? Pitch a workshop or presentation to dive deep into a Choosing Wisely topic. Sessions are 75-minutes and facilitators should be experienced in leading sessions and encouraging participants to contribute to the discussion.

Submission Guidelines:

Keep it short and simple. Submit a maximum of 250 words and include the following information (if applicable):

  • Goal
  • Activities
  • Impact
  • Challenges
  • Lessons learned
  • For abstract submissions related to measurement/evaluation, please include background and methods.

Important Dates:

  • Call for content submissions will be accepted until November 15, 2023.
  • Content considered for in-person presentations will be notified by December 7, 2023.
  • National Meeting: April 15 & 16, 2024

Registration will open in early 2024.
