We are now accepting abstract and presentation submissions to be featured at Choosing Wisely Canada’s National Meeting, on May 26 – 27, 2027 at the Delta Hotel St. John’s Conference Centre in St. John’s, NL.

How to showcase your Choosing Wisely efforts:

Submit an abstract for oral or poster/infographic presentation

Submit an abstract on Choosing Wisely initiatives and innovative approaches based on the following themes:

• Leveraging quality improvement to reduce low-value care and advance appropriate use
• Implementing strategies to improve appropriate prescribing and medication use
• Embedding resource stewardship into clinical education and training programs
• Mobilizing interprofessional teams and allied health professionals to reduce low-value care and advance appropriate use
• Implementing approaches that reduce waste and improve health system sustainability
• Using data and evaluation to measure impact, variation, and system value
• Scaling and sustaining Choosing Wisely initiatives across jurisdictions and care settings

Abstracts will be accepted in English and French. Relevant abstracts will be considered for in-person oral presentations in concurrent breakout sessions, or for in-person poster/infographic presentations. Accepted abstracts will be published in a digital abstract book.

Pitch a Workshop/Presentation

Have a topic that needs more time? Pitch a workshop or presentation to dive deep into a Choosing Wisely topic. Sessions are 70-minutes and facilitators should be experienced in leading sessions and encouraging participants to contribute to the discussion.

Submission Guidelines

Keep it short and simple. Submit a maximum of 250 words and include the following information (if applicable):

• Goal
• Activities
• Impact
• Challenges
• Lessons learned
• For abstract submissions related to measurement/evaluation, please include background and methods

Important Dates

• Call for content submissions will be accepted until December 4, 2026
• Content considered for in-person presentations will be notified by January 8, 2027 (Pending Review)
• National Meeting: May 26 – 27, 2027
