Choosing Wisely Canada is pleased to welcome the launch of the Choosing Wisely BC hub, under the leadership of Health Quality BC. This new provincial hub will support local efforts to advance high-quality, evidence-informed care and reduce unnecessary tests and treatments.

The hub will strengthen existing efforts by:

• Building connections and sharing between initiatives
• Helping scale and spread improvement work
• Supporting clinicians and teams in implementing Choosing Wisely recommendations

Work is already underway with partners across BC on:

• Appropriate use of antipsychotic medications in long-term care
• Low-carbon alternatives that support both patient care and the environment: two areas of focus are anesthesia and respiratory care
• Emerging opportunities linked to administrative burden relating to appropriateness and stewardship of medications and diagnostic imaging
