In May 2021, Choosing Wisely Canada and CADTH released the report Using Health Care Resources Wisely After the COVID-19 Pandemic: Recommendations to Reduce Low-Value Care. The report highlights 19 existing Choosing Wisely Canada recommendations to help decision-makers avoid reintroducing low-value services in seven clinical areas.

On October 13 at 12 p.m. ET, the De/Implement series will explore how to put these recommendations into practice. Dr. Karen Born, Knowledge Translation Lead of Choosing Wisely Canada, will highlight how the report was created to help ensure health care services can address resource constraints and backlogs. Dr. Janet Reynolds, Primary Care Co-Lead of Choosing Wisely Canada, will provide a practical example of implementing one of the recommendations found in the report on advance care planning conversations.
