Dr. Lisa Hicks, hematologist and Choosing Wisely physician lead at St. Michael’s Hospital (SMH), presented SMH’s newest implementation projects. This included 9 implementation projects currently underway that are either sustained, in progress, or under development. A lengthy list and a great presentation for those looking to begin implementing. Notably, things such as reducing the total X-rays ordered in the ICUs by more than 50%, decreased Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) readmissions, and optimization of COPD order sets were highlighted in this presentation.
