As a young child and into adulthood, Darryl had been prescribed opioids to treat pain. His use of fentanyl after a back injury soon led to a dangerous addiction affecting his job as an ER doctor and raising a young family. He eventually used his connections and influences in the hospital to support his drug addiction. His continued fentanyl addiction spiraled out of control, leaving him without a medical license and a family.
